Casa Cadaval – premium wine from Portugal
The Casa Cadaval estate is located in the heart of Portugal, in the wine-growing region Ribatejo. The town of is roughly 60 km north-west of Lisbon. The 5000 ha estate is used for farmland, breeding thoroughbred Lousitanos horses and wine-growing.

The estate is run by Teresa Alvares Pereira Countess von Schönborn-Wiesentheid, the sister of Paul Count von Schönborn. She assumed the management from their mother and now forms the fifth generation of women to incorporate this position. She has selected 53 ha of top sites which are planted to 95% with red wine varieties. These include the autochthonal Portuguese varieties Tinta Ruriz, Touriga Nacional and Trincadeira, from which the estate's most famous wine is pressed. Other varieties grown cover the premium French grapes Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The maximum yield is limited to 45 hl/ha. The effort invested has been well worth while, since the estate is now recognised as one of the top producers of Portuguese wines. The oenological management is assumed by the well-known wine maker Rui Reguinga.
