Agriculture

Conventional agriculture is practiced in several areas in Franken with a total size of more than 900 hectares. These are the most important produces:

· Sugar beets which are processed in Ochsenfurt (most important income)

· Winter wheat (Monopol and Aron) is exclusively distributed in Italy and France

· Triticale (as feed via ship to the BeNeLux countries)

· Brewing barley to local retailers

The estates in Gaibach and Ettleben

The agricultural estate Gaibach/Volkach in the district Kitzingen is managed by Klaus Warmuth. It comprises the agricultural areas of Wiesentheid, Hallburg, Gaibach, Öttershausen and Wadenbrunn, which is used as the farming site. The granary with a volume of approximately 2000 – 2500 tons, in which the yielded grain harvest is stored, as well as an intact distillery, which was in operation until 1999, is located there.  
The agricultural estate Ettleben in the district Schweinfurt is managed by Konrad Klein. The yielded grain harvest of 500 - 600 tons is stored on the site of the estate.

Furthermore, the two estates possess a considerable contingent of sugar beets since the sugar beets are an important income besides the grain.

Fendt-Saaten-Union-Feldtage

Every second year, the FENDT-SAATEN-UNION-Feldtage, which are known all over Germany and in Europe, take place on the estate Wadenbrunn in collaboration with the companies AGCO-Fendt, Saaten-Union as well as the House Schönborn. For one day over 50.000 farmers from all over Europe come to visit the farm where they can see the performance of the machines while working on the fields and the quality of agricultural plants test fields such as Corn, sugar beat, bio-energy plants among others.
